URGENT: Chocolate lab mix needs rescue

Today, August 3rd, a stop was made in Red Lake by the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue van to find a mama we named Lydia who had been shot on Thursday night. Lydia in spite of her injuries was mothering her litter of 7 pups, about 4 weeks old. She was very thin and dehydrated. The puppies followed her whining for milk.

Lydia was surrendered and 5 of the 7 pups were also surrendered. Lydia was taken to the emergency vet who discovered the bullet had an entrance and exit wound and had NOT hit the bone or any vital organs. Lydia was lucky. The greatest threat is an open exposed joint and infection which can be seen starting.

Lydia is on pain medication and antibiotics with hopes that we can get a rescue to step up and take Lydia right away to have a clean indoor environment free of flies.

Is there anyone out there who would help poor Lydia? Thankfully her puppies are lapping puppy milk and eating canned puppy food so they will not further stress her little worn out and broken body.

I will wait to hear any good word for Lydia. We have heard that transport help is ready at any time this week- we just need the good-hearted rescue to take Lydia's case on. According to the vet no
orthopedic surgery needed.
