First neuter-only clinic a success!

The first "neuter only" clinic was held in Redby on March 2-3, 2011 sponsored by Akin Hills Pet Hospital, Farmington, MN, and Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

The clinic served Red Lake Reservation and neutered 65 dogs and cats by the dedicated Dr. Veronica Bartsch and her two vet techs Lindsay and Jessica. A total of 98 vaccinations were done as well.

Other volunteers making the clinic a success were Mike, Nate, and Heidi from the metro; Jennifer from Roseau; and Carol from the RLRR Board of Directors.

Since we did not have the equipment or facility to do spays, it was a great surprise to have so many animals brought to the clinic by their owners from the community. At first we were not sure how well a "neuter only" clinic would go, but we were pleasantly surprised.

Thank you to everyone who worked very hard with very few volunteers to make it a success. Long hours were spent by the medical team getting all these neuters done.

After the clinic Mike, Nate, Heidi, and Jennifer came to the shelter to help tuck in the animals that were surrendered and helped get the transports ready for the next day. A total of 16 cat and 14 dogs and puppies went to various rescues and foster homes on Friday and Sunday.

Sincerely, Karen
