Updates on Molly

MOLLY'S SLEEPOVER:
Just had to write and tell you about Molly's first overnight -- we took all these pictures!

Her auntie K~ and cousin P~ had us out for the weekend and insisted we bring Molly. She loves Molly like her own puppy and let Molly lay on all the furniture, took her for runs on her acres of property, and made pork chops for dinner Sunday, 'cause she knows it is Molly's favorite! She also gave Molly a really cute fur winter coat, that belonged to her last puppy.

NEW BLUE JACKETMolly had so much fun, she would not sleep (or even nap) because she just didn't want to miss a minute of her weekend! She slept from the time we brought her home on Sunday until Monday morning when she and dad took Mom to work.

MOLLY MADNESS:
Molly is our beautiful white lab; she weighed 12 lbs. when we got her @ 8 weeks old; now, at almost 6 months, she weighs 55 lbs! Molly sleeps with us every night and although we have a king-size bed, when she stretches out between us, there is no extra room. She nuzzles her head up against ours on our pillows. When you wake up to "puppy kisses", I guess it is all worth it, huh? T~ went to the couch a few times because Molly was so comfortable, he just couldn't move her...

SOMEONE'S IN THE KITCHEN WITH MOLLYOur home has become "Molly central". We have a 2010 puppy calendar, puppy picture frames, a bone-shaped treat jar on the counter, ceramic dog bowls with cut-out paw prints on the floor, puppy magnets on the fridge, & a bone-shaped "I love my dog" sun catcher in the window. I just ordered a lab puppy print cover for our kitchen-aid mixer. And that is just in the kitchen!!

GROUP CUDDLE P~& K~In the living room, there are more puppy-shaped picture frames, dog toys scattered across the floor, & her big pink bone pillow on the end of the couch. In the front foyer, we replaced a beautiful wood table with a huge metal dog kennel and hung up two puppy plaques that say "Beware of Puppy Kisses" and "I love Dogs". We have a white lab mouse pad by our computer, puppy flea shampoo in our shower & puppy training pads by the front door.

HELPING AT THE COMPUTERWe now shop regularly online at "Pet Solutions" and "Dog.com". We bought a digital camera, a charger, and rechargeable batteries when we got Molly. We also ended up buying more memory for our computer, cause Mommy takes a lot of pictures of her beautiful baby! I took a lot of pictures of my son as he grew up and now that he has become a man, I take pictures of my new "fur child".

We have puppy bumper stickers on our vehicles and puppy air fresheners inside the car. Our back yard is scattered with training dummies and tennis balls. The dog leash hangs on the back door. Our home and car windows are covered in dog slobber, cause Molly loves to look out the windows in the house and chase the windshield wipers on the dash of the car. We don't care and we really don't care if anyone else does either!

MOLLY WANTS AN IPODThis year, we exchanged Christmas presents with our neighbor, who also got a new puppy. Molly and Woofer exchanged gifts! We exchanged dog treats, puppy toys, and pet owner treats! Molly has more toys than most children! She has a "Princess" puppy shirt and I just ordered her a MN Vikings bandana for the Superbowl, cause the Vikings will be in it; Mommy and Daddy in their Vikings Jerseys and Molly in her Vikings bandana.

Yes, we call each other Mommy and Daddy. Oh, and Molly's best friend in also my best friend, Auntie Karen. She knows Auntie Karen's car and runs from window to window whenever she drives up. My friends and my family help keep her toy and treat supply in full force. We go to the butcher shop for dog bones; not steaks.

ON THE COUCHOur puppies vet bills are higher than our "people" medical bills. Although Molly eats puppy chow for breakfast and dinner, she gets "people food" for dinner with Daddy and I. Tom makes fun of me for cutting up her food! She loves pork and Daddy's gravy. Molly loves many things: rides in the car, toys, treats, bones, walks, playing tug, playing Frisbee, and the king size bed with silk sheets. But most of all, Molly loves her "People". The people in her life don't get mad when she "poops", and "pees"; we don't hit her when she misbehaves; we love her more than she loves us.

HUGS WITH K~She adopted us and we can tell she plans to stay. And we are VERY happy about that. I guess you could say we love our puppy. Our puppy gives "kisses" and "hugs", If you ask for "kisses", she licks your face. If you ask for "hugs", she takes both her paws and wraps them around your neck. She loves us unconditionally, as we love her.

I guess our motto is: Must Love Dogs! (or cats, or whatever pet you prefer). Pets give unconditional love-they trust you to take care of them. Pets crave attention and affection. They trust that you will love them, not hurt them. They don't mean to misbehave; they don't misbehave to upset you. They can be your best friend, and they are by far, the most loyal and loving creatures on this earth.

KISSESIf you are sitting out there reading this, especially if you are alone or lonely, consider adopting a pet from a rescue center. Or if you have children, consider adopting a rescue animal. Children love pets and pets love children. Molly just loves children and is so good with them. The love you will get back will more than compensate for the work and time you will put into loving that animal. Just a thought-but I think, a darn good one.

MOLLY'S LOVE:
Tom and I adopted Molly on September 24, 2009. Since that time, Molly has changed our lives. She loves unconditionally and she brings us so much joy. Our home is filled with laughter!

We entered Molly in the Cutest Pet Contest through the Grand Forks Herald last week. I entered a photo of her wearing goggles, floating on a Nemo float in our hot tub. (Yes, if our guests don't like it, then they don't have to get in. She can't be in long due to the temp, but she loves being with us.)

Although there are many beautiful pets in the contest, I would love to see an animal win that didn't come from the finest breeding. I would like to see a pet win that has had to face adversity, just like many of us humans have. I would most like to see a pet win that came from a rescue center. I believe that rescue animals have more character, more love to give, and more loyalty than expensively breeded animals. Maybe I am prejudiced in that respect, but I just know that Molly is our sunshine.

To everyone who volunteers to make a difference in a rescue animals life (or death), and particularly to Karen Good, whose dedication and love for these animals extends beyond anything I have ever seen, you have already earned your angel wings. Keep up the good work!

  1. I love this story! Thank you for the update! Molly's beautiful and I'm so happy to hear that she's found a good home. I know what you mean about pet supplies - I don't care what anyone says when I talk about shopping for blankets, towels, toys & treats - the good stuff, too. Nothing cheap, lol! Thx again for the update & pics and thank you for taking Molly! :))
