This Christmas greeting is a continuation of the blog post on last Friday. We want to give thanks this Holiday season to this couple that has chosen to share their lives with four rescued dogs and to everyone else who chooses to rescue their pets.
To really appreciate how wonderful this story is, you must return to the sad orgins of Dylan and Phoenix (aka Cinnamon) at Red Lake.
DYLANDylan was found as a tiny puppy at the garbage dump, starved and almost hairless from mange. Then he developed paralysis in his hind legs. Only through the kindness of Red Lake volunteers and perhaps a bit of a Christmas miracle did this dog survive.
PHOENIXPhoenix came to Red Lake badly starved with a litter of pups. They were found living in an old dog house with no bedding and no food. It was already winter and they would not have survived without rescue.
Look again at the beautiful dogs in the Christmas card. You don't have to know much about dogs to notice how healthy they look now and, perhaps just as importantly, they hold up their heads and their eyes shine. Would you have believed it was possible?
You are part of the miracle when you support Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.
What incredible transformations....from rags to riches with the help from Karen,
ReplyDeletethe 'rescue team', and all the
foster care.....thanks for this
beautiful story and happy ending.
We are grateful!
Special thank you to Dr. Veronica Bartsch and Lindsay Cline of Akin HillsPet Hospital in Farmington for taking Dylan and Phoenix and getting them ,medical care plus theis great home!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful Xmas card. You can see that the dogs are happy by the expressions on their faces and the in their eyes. I really believe this is how pets should be treated. Their quality of life needs to be good, too, as does yours. My dad used to disagree with me on this & say, "They're just animals." I've never found any evidence that they are just animals. There's a soul there with feelings! Thank you for saving these pups and giving them an awesome home. Happy holidays and a happy new year to you and yours! :)
ReplyDeleteAkin Hills also cared for Lorna for 6 days while she recovered from Parvo. They are great friends of Red Lake dogs!
ReplyDeleteI was with Karen when we rescued Phoenix and her pups in Red Lake. She was in horrible shape at that time but we could tell what a beautiful spirit she had. It is so heartwarming to see her photo ... it definitely looks like she has a smile on her face :)
