Same old story: starvation and mange

We had another transport on Saturday October 24 and I have lost count but I think it is 10 or 11 consecutive weeks of transports! Definitely a record-breaking time for us, and we are all hoping things will slow down.

I drove 15 dogs and puppies to Bemidji where I met the O'Sullivans, and they drove on to Motley to meet Barbara Olson, who went on to the metro to meet Dee Dee. It was a load of some very wonderful animals, many of whom suffered starvation and mange, who got a chance for a brighter future.

STARVING RENAERENAE AND HER PUPSRenae was a bag of bones when she came in. Thankfully no mange was detected on her or her pups. She is eating regularly spaced mixed puppy kibble and canned foor which she gobbles up in less than 10 seconds. We are so happy that our generous donors send food to help starving animals such as Renae. Renae is young by looks of her teeth. She and her pups went to Animal Ark.

BABES IN THE WOODSBABES IN THE WOODSBabes in the Woods are two tiny husky mix puppies we found in the woods following a tip by a student. We saw the mama and daddy dogs, but could not catch them. They had mange so we left ivermectin in food for them. The puppies are very young- I would say 3-4 weeks old. Not in bad shape at all- eating moist canned and puppy milk replaced with a syringe They are very large for their age. They have no mange, but no doubt will develop it.

PEGGY IN HER SWEATERPATTY IN HER SWEATERPATTY & PEGGYPatty and Peggy went to TLC Rescue.

REGINATINY REGINARegina also went into foster care with Linda for Animal Ark.

WHITE OWLWe found White Owl, Ronelle and Jocelyn at the same place. White Owl was hungry but not as bad as the girls. He is really packing away the puppy kibble. He got his lst parvo/dis shot, ivermectin treatment. Jocelyn and White Owl went to Pet Projects.

JOCELYNJOCELYNJocelyn came in starving -- near death. She is a husky mix about 12-16 weeks old. She walks hunched over from losing strength on her hind legs and could not hold up her head on the way to the shelter. Now She is eating good quality meals at regular intervals and LOVES her little dog house and her straw bedding. She is so happy to be rescued. I started ivermectin for her mange, but no parvo shot yet as she is too weak.

CHUBSChar and Chubs went to Tricounty Humane Society. Chubs is a little tan and white male shep /lab mix. Very sweet and in fairly good shape. He got wormed, and his first parvo/dis shot

JESSICA'S SCARSJESSICAJessica, a german shepherd went to Second Hand Dogs.

RONELLERONELLE'S SORESRonelle, a Saint mix, female, about a year, came in starving with sores on her legs and ears from mange. She has a darling personality. She is getting small portions of puppy kibble and canned at regular intervals and has started ivermectin treatments. She went into foster care with Dee Dee.

Petey, a cute little doxie mix, is also in one of our Red Lake Rosie foster homes.

A special thank you to the Red Lake community members who rescue animals, our metro support team, our Petfinder fosters, our transporters, the rescues that take the animals, and our faithful financial supporters.

We need all of these valuable players on our team or we could never hope to accomplish the level of help we are providing to the Red Lake animals. I am amazed at what we have done together!!
