Johnny's home

Johnny was a tiny mangy pup when he first came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue at the November 2009 clinic. We've received an update from his new home:

CARLEY AND JOHNNY IN NOV 09UPDATE:
Thought I would just check in with you to let you know how Johnny is doing and to send you a few pictures!

Johnny is a very busy boy, he currently attends Doggy Camp once per week and has just started obedience training. He runs every morning for a few miles and most evenings gets another walk.

He goes most places with us and loves spending time with his big sister Maggie the lab and little elderly brother Murray. He also has two boxer cousins about a mile away that we go to visit in which it becomes one big lick fest after their chasing and wrestling matches end.

Johnny rules all leather furniture in our house, including the ottoman/coffee table!! The family room is pretty much his, but as you will see in a couple of the pictures, he shares!

Thank you for choosing us for Johnny; we are so thankful you did!

Urgent transport last weekend

We received a call late Sunday night on November 29 from a person who had gotten the head of their chihuahua WaWa in the car door and the eyeball was hanging out. They had no money for vet care so we made arrangements for the after hour vet to take the animal. We asked in exchange for a surrender.

CAPTAINWaWa, now Captain, had his left eye removed and spent the next 4 days in foster care with Lexy, the vet tech. Captain was also suffering malnutrition.

Well, as usual, Act V responded quickly. Connie and her daughter Cindy made a road trip to RLRR shelter on Saturday December 5 and took out Captain, Elbert, Lorna, Johnny, Candy, and 5 kittens.

CAPTAINAs it turned out Shirley, sho had adopted Gracie, a RLRR small dog last year decided she may want to adopt poor little Captain, so she is going to provide him foster care to see how he and Gracie get along.

Also Elbert was reunited with Anne who is fostering him.

LORNAMary, foster mom from All Dog is caring for Lorna, a little shy stray found in Red Lake. Candy, a female chihuahua, is either going to All Dog or to RLRR Petfinder foster home.

JOHNNY & CHEETAH STROLLINGJohnny who has been at the shelter since the November clinic finally got out to a foster home.

Four kittens are bound for Lauren and Mikes foster care, and Libby's lone black kitten went with Connie and is adjusting there.

As traumatic as the loss of poor little Captain's eye was, it may have saved his life, because in his physical condition he would have died if not for intervention.

Thank you all for saving these little creatures.

Dogs ready to leave Red Lake Rosie's Rescue

Karen's care is the first line of defense for the dogs that come to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue starving and miserable from mange. Often, Karen will keep the dogs to treat them for mange and then send them on to other rescue groups for continuing care and placement. These dogs are ready to move on. Can you help? Can you resist??

SIMONSimon was found at the Red Lake dump. He now weighs about 15 lbs and has no skin disease. He's a very cute male -- about 14 weeks old and looks like a shep spaniel mix.

CARLEYCarley was found by Carol Priest at the Circle Pines garbage dump with a little red collar. She surely would have died by now had Carol not found her. She is precious. Carley had mange and is nearly bald, but is not contagious at this time.
CARLEY & JOHNNYThese 2 little darlings were found separately but became fast friends. Johnny is a little mangy shep male, already neutered. They are a very nice pair that could use a foster home -- They are driving me bananas in the cathouse and are too hairless to go outdoors.

KIABeautiful Kia was surrendered at the clinic. She came in starving, but is gaining by leaps and bounds. She is the sweetest dog ever. Don't let her large size intimidate you -- she is a little lamb. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and is heartworm negative, but Ananplasmosis and lymes pos. Has some infection in mouth due too old quills- a real wonderful dog!!

MS PEPPERMs Pepper has been spayed, vaccinated and is heartworm neg. She is an alpha female who walks well on a leash. She does not pee or poop in kennel- but holds herself until am and pm chores. She had a bite mark on her back on arrival, but that is healing nicely.

Please contact Karen or animalrescue@redlakerosie.org if you can help.
