Birthday donations

Instead of receiving presents for her 11th birthday, a remarkable young lady named Laney collected over $200 in donations to help the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue animals.

With the money, she purchased crates, dog and cat food, garbage bags, laundry detergent, rubber pails, and leashes.

Her family adopted a one-eyed RLRR dog named Geronimo last year from ACT V and collected and donated to them for her birthday last year!! Read our previous post here.
Thank you to Laney and her Mom, Emily, for their generous efforts to help the animals.

Geronimo finds a home

From Red Lake Rosie's Rescue to Act V and now to his forever home, Geronimo, known as the "one-eyed wiggler" has inspired many.

ACT V SHARED ON FACEBOOK:
So here is a story of sacrifice, a lesson in giving and a sharing of the philosophy "it's better to give than to receive". Laney is 10 years old. Her mom and dad adopted Geronimo.
Laney just celebrated her 10th birthday and in lieu of gifts, her friends were asked to bring dog treats and toys to be donated to ACT V Rescue & Rehab...! Not only that, the kids made fleece blankets for our puppies and senior dogs. What an amazing kid...!!! (And a truly amazing family.) We sure know how to pick 'em... :-)

Wiggle on, Geronimo!

Geronimo lost an eye in a dog attack before coming to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. He transferred to Act V on the Mother's Day transport and he is one happy boy now! He moved to a foster home and is ready for adoption.

Geronimo is going to be a big boy; he was 45 lbs at just 17 weeks old, but he is all puppy. Foster home reports that he has huge feet and a wiggle-butt. "He hasn't stopped wiggling except when he wants cuddles!"

Geronimo is also on petfinder.com and the ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation website:

Geronimo...!! This is our one-eyed wiggler. It's true, he lost an eye in a fight. But this puppy couldn't care less! He's living in foster care with another dog who plays and romps with him and he is thriving. He needs a family that doesn't care about his eye and will focus on making this big boy a part of their family. He will be adopted in the Twin Cities area only and his fee is $350. Geronimo is a FUN dog and if you'd like to meet him, email us! (info@actvrescue.org)

Saving Geronimo

On Sunday April 29th we had another emergency call from Ponemah.
Toby, who I renamed Geronimo because he surely is a warrior, was surrendered and delivered to the vet by Brandon, a man from Ponemah. It was not his dog but Brandon did a good deed and saved Geronimo.

The dog had been attacked by another dog 2 weeks ago and the eye was destroyed, and Geronimo was getting very ill, so the owner contacted RLRR and wanted to get him help. At that point he had stopped eating and was infected.
On Monday, April 30th Geronimo had the eye removed, was neutered and vaccinated. He was transported back to the RLRR shelter on May lst. Another emergency weekend vet bill, which are more expensive than during the week, but we felt that Geronimo's life was well worth it.
Once again Dr. Vickie Act V came to the rescue and will be taking Geronimo into their program on Wednesday, May 2nd.

Thank you all for this rescue.

Sincerely, Karen RLRR
