Bringing a smile to Miley

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue took in this darling puppy that we called Fluffy, then she moved to Secondhand Hounds rescue, was adopted and became Miley.
FLUFFY BABYUPDATE ONE:
Hello!
Just wanted to share with you how much Miley has grown! And most of all how much we are enjoying her! She's very silly with a I just wanna play play play attitude.

BEAUTIFUL MILEYWe've had 3 weeks of obedience classes---3 more to go, she's very smart and it's mainly us who needs the training. :) When we frustrate her or doing something not to her liking she gives us one loud bark.

MILEY IN TRAININGShe's mastered the tunnel in agility and now we're working on hoops and the wiggle board (can't remember what it's called-helps them learn how to use their back legs), she'll start jumps later, about 17 months, when her bones are done growing.

We have to put our 2 older dogs down soon, we are struggling, it's sooo hard. Having Miley around sure helps!

UPDATE TWO:
Hi Karen--
With her rough start in life, it makes sense why it took Miley a while to really 'love' us. Just in the last few weeks she has started showing her affection towards us.

MILEY AND TShe is a bit submissive too but we socialize her as much as we can and it has gotten better. Our trainer said being a submissive dog isn't all bad anyways. Not sure of the reasons but works for me. :)

MILEY AND DADThat's my husband with Miley--our 1st time snowshoeing, her & our daughter, T running tunnels and laying in bed together, the other one is Miley and our cat Pumpkin. Miley's trying very hard to mind her manners!

MILEY AND PUMPKINPumpkin doesn't defend himself and Miley would love to lick/smell him to death! He lets out a loud meow until we save him.

Thanks for all you do for the animals!

Fluffy Flo finds friend Ferdie

I brought home three kittens from the May clinic at RLRR to foster and one of those has a new home. (Siblings Spot & Mulan are still waiting-- hint, hint -- for a home together.)Mulan, Fluffy, and Spot. I freely admit that their names are pretty lame, but I had to give them names in a hurry at the clinic and it was the end of the the day.Fluffy really is a uniquely fluffy kitten. I thought her dense coat might be due to living outdoors in the cold northern spring, but her siblings' coats were not the same and hers never changed after living with me for a couple months. She really was like a living stuffed animal both in texture and attitude -- very laid-back and loving. I was hoping she would go to a home with a young girl and she did! Her new best buddy is Annie. There is also a resident cat she would like to play with, but Ferdie is older and not looking for that much action. This relationship will take some time to evolve. I got photos from the family and Fluffy's new name is Flo to match a cat the family used to have that looked just like her who was named Bo.

Three Little Kittens

It's not all about dogs at Red Lake. We always spay/neuter a number of cats at the clinics. I brought home a group of three shy kittens to foster. They all came from the same household; the mom cat was spayed and returned to the home. The kittens were shy, some more than others. They challenged me during the clinic by escaping (twice!) from their wire kennel and they continue to be a bit of a challenge to socialize. They are super-cute though, don't you think?

FAMILY PHOTOSpot is the only little boy and he watches over his sisters in scary situations, but the rest of the time he just wants to wrestle with them. He is short-haired, white with black spots like a Holstein cow or a dalmation pup. He is much less afraid and will even purr now when held. Check out that face!

SPOTFluffy is the little girly girl. She is just a ball of gray fluff with white tuxedo markings and a special gray spot under her chin. She is already a cuddlebug who runs to meet you and purrs before you even pick her up.

FLUFFYMulan is the Siamese or Snowshoe-looking kitten. She has beautiful blue eyes that are almost impossible to photograph well, but she is very afraid. She hides and hisses and doesn't relax yet when we hold her. She needs some very patient, frequent human contact to feel safe again.

MULANAll of the kittens are spayed/neutered, FeLK/FIV negative, vet-checked and treated for parasites. They are healthy and ready for new homes, but it will have to be a special home for the shyer ones. We'll keep working on their socialization, too! Check for them on our website.
