Chessy gets adopted

Good morning, Chad and I drove to Prior Lake last night and met with H & D---and were greeted by not only them, but 4 of their 6 children, and numerous grandchildren.
Chessie will be surrounded by love constantly. This couple are longtime dog lovers, particularly Shephards (had pictures throughout the home of the family dogs)--and all of the children love dogs as well. To say they are dog lovers is an understatement, i.e. this morning I noticed even her check blanks are from the humane society and say "Adopt your next best friend". They are also previous Pet Haven dog adopters (I think from years ago).

She'll be in a house on a lake, with a large pontoon. H had experience with training dogs in her younger years--and Chessie will have an invisible fence
(and a tie out until she is trained). It also sounds like there are neighbors with dogs to visit Ms. Chessie. They are both retired, so she'll never be alone, except when Helen might head to Bingo. :-)

Last night I watched this special girl surrounded by about 12 people and get her belly rubbed/petted. AS HARD as it was to let this one go, and the tears came the whole ride home, I keep thinking about how blessed these dogs have been thanks to Pet Haven and Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Chessy and her babies

Chessy was rescued by Carol Priest several weeks ago. She found her on the road with one dead pup. She wondered what might have happened to her other pups, but decided she better rescue Chessy and take her to the Red Lake Rosie shelter.

CHESSYOne day a couple of weeks later I got a call that there were 3 stray pups in a lady's yard in that same area. Tony went to the location and caught one of the pups, who I named Veda, and brought her to the shelter. She was VERY scared and went off to a foster mom in Bemidji for socialization.

VEDAThe other two hid in a woodpile and were very hungry and tick infested, but could not be caught. Carol persistently went to the woodpile every day to feed and coax the two pups. Finally, she caught them.

VICTOR AND VINCENTChessy went out on a transport May 2nd was treated for heartworm by Pet Haven---They just love her.

Her 3 pups Veda, Victor and Vincent went out on a transport 2 weeks later to ARVSS in Wisconsin.

Thank you to Carol, Tony, Pet Haven, ARVSS, Tom, Nancy, Barbara, Geri, DeeDee, and all the people who support RLRR in one way or another to make a happy ending like this possible for Chessy and her kids!!

May 2 transport

We are very happy to report that on May 2nd Barbara of Minneaplis drove all the way to Bemidji to meet me to take out 12 animals to various rescues. We sent out Chessy, a heartworm positive shep to Pet Haven and they are going to treat her. We are so thankful to them.
CHESSY Also on board was Windi who went to Second Chance Dogs in St. Paul. She is a great dog, too.
WINDIThe puppies that went were a litter of 2 sheps named Gina & Georgie Girl and Charlie Brown who were surrendered at the clinic. They were not in good shape and could have died, but thankfully are on the mend at Caring Hands.
GINA & GEORGIE GIRLWe also sent a litter of 3 shep pups which I did not get a pic of and they are at Pet Projects.

We also sent the 4 little kitties to Barbara fostering for Pet Haven.

I usually try not to get too attached, however, Charlie Brown stole my heart, and he was the boss at the shelter all week- He is sadly missed.
CHARLIE BROWN
Thank you to all for your help in getting all these great animals hope for a forever home.

Sincerely, Karen
