Sheba and her newborn litter of puppies were in a small
culvert about 18 inches in diameter in Ponemah. The people who owned the home and driveway
wanted them out of their culvert. So
began the extreme rescue of this little family by Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.
The snowplow had covered one end of the culvert with 6
feet of snow hardened by the cold winds.
To compound the problem, it was 30-below windchill on that day. Sheba
was not about to come out of the culvert and saw us all as intruders who might harm her newborn family.
Paul and Paula joined us at the site and the team began
digging a long tunnel so we would have access with the roof rake. We sawed off a portion of the roof rake so it
would fit in the culvert. Soon we were
able to pull the tiny newborn babies to safety.
Mama Sheba came out of the culvert and the whole family went to RLRR
shelter where they enjoy nice warm straw, blankets, and good food and water.
We are so thankful to make the rescue and all the
supporters who provide gas money, tools, straw, igloos, food, and shelter
support.

I thought you might like to know that we have just adopted Sheba (now called Kelty) from the Pet Haven Rescue organization. She just spent her first night with us! Her days and nights of being cold and hungry are over, and she will be loved for the rest of her life. We are so grateful to all involved her rescued her and her pups!!!
