Carrie: Now a Ginger Carrot

Carrie the Carrot arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue last August, with her beautiful red fur completely matted. She had to be shaved and ended up spending the whole winter in the cathouse. Finally, in March she was selected to go to our wonderful partners at Feline Rescue and she was quickly adopted. She looks pretty content. ;-)

CARRIE/GINGERUPDATE FROM FELINE RESCUE ADOPTER OF RLRR CAT:
Hello,
I'm sending you pictures of the kitty I adopted from you back in March. Her name was Carrie, and she came from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. I've renamed her Ginger, and one of the pictures includes her sister, Princess. It only took a couple of days of separation before they accepted each other, and they're getting along very well.

CARRIE & PRINCESSYou may recall that Ginger had bad fur - lots of mats, most of which had been removed when I got her - you said you had to send her to a groomer. I still find one once in a while, and I'm trying to get her used to being brushed. She didn't like it at all at first (I'm sure she remembered the difficulty of having them removed in the beginning), but she is getting better, and even seems to enjoy the gentle brushing for a short time.

She's a sweetheart, and I thank you for your ongoing kitty rescue efforts.

With appreciation,
KB~

CARRIE AT THE CATHOUSEBACKGROUND INFO FROM KAREN:
Last August I got a report of a family in Red Lake that had a number of cats with litters, and wanted to surrender them. Carrie the Carrot was a badly matted orange long haired cat living in their garage with a litter of 6 tiny kittens. Carrie was very thin and was not producing milk, so they were feeding the kittens cow's milk. They all had fleas and were all not in good shape. So I gathered up 2 lactating females and a bunch of kittens and took them to the shelter.

Carrie began eating nutritious food and soon started producing milk, however, was not interested in nursing her babies, who were about 3 weeks old, clearly too small to eat on their own. The other lactating mama did nurse them a few days, and then they went on to a rescue.

Carrie went to the August clinic to see the groomer only, as she was so matted and she needed to be shaven. Somehow she got in the spay line and was spayed as well. Heather located her at the clinic that late afternoon and we found her not doing well, so Heather kept her warm, and she made it to the shelter. It took several days before she got well and then she spent several months at the RLRR cathouse.

We enjoyed her at the cathouse very much, and were happy when she left and now has been adopted. Carrie deserves the best that life has to offer her.

Sincerely,
Karen RLRR
