A visit, plus a donation of clinic supplies!

What a nice surprise when Shannon and Mike drove into the driveway of Red Lake Rosie's shelter with a U-Haul trailer full of clinic and shelter supplies on Friday April 28th. They collected and purchased clinic supplies such as 240 bottles of water, paper products, rubber gloves, coffee, filters, puppy pads, and numerous other supplies.

They remembered our shelter cat Nicholas and brought a box of his favorite canned Friskies shreds for him. They also brought a batch of delicious muffins that Jo Tallchief, our RLRR board chairperson and I enjoyed.

Shannon and Mike got a chance to meet all the animals at the shelter. Shannon and Mike have three Red Lake cats that they adopted from Pet Haven, you can learn more about them in an earlier blog post HERE. Also riding along were their two family canines, shepherd mixes, Rudy and Rolly, 10-years-young, who also toured around the shelter. We happily expect to see Shannon and Mike at the shelter as volunteers this summer.

With the clinic coming up May 4, 5, 6, I could knock off many of the items on the shopping list. Not only does Red Lake Rosie's Rescue pay per animal for clinic services, but also for a contract wellness veterinarian, room rentals for volunteers, some refreshments for volunteers, transport fees, vaccine and medical supplies, cleaning supplies and paper products.

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue asks the Red Lake community members to contribute $10 per animal and any nonmembers to pay $50 per animal to help defray these costs. When all expenses are added in we spend about $8,000 or more per clinic. It is well worth the investment, however, to help end the overpopulation of unwanted animals.

Thank you, Shannon and Mike and all the kind people, like our loyal food-preparer Claudia, who provide financial and material support for our vital neuter and spay clinics!
