Many Thanks for helping Phoenix!!

Less than 24 hours after first getting a call about the burned puppy on the Red Lake Reservation on Friday night, Phoenix was in the Twin Cities getting treatment. This could not have happened without the great cooperation of multiple animal rescue organizations and individuals.

KRISTIN DELIVERS PHOENIX TO DR. VICKI AT ACT V
Thanks are owed to so many that probably not every name will get mentioned, but we want to acknowledge as many as we can and hope that all feel a tremendous sense of reward from helping Phoenix on his road to recovery.

First and foremost, there is Clayton Van Wert who happened to be at the dump, took the time to find the source of the sounds and risked himself to pull the pup from the burning dumpster. Thanks to Officer Kingbird for responding to the call, getting the dog to Polly & Dan and continuing investigation into who is responsible for this crime.

Karen Good of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue reached out to ACT V for help and Jenny Fitzer of Leech Lake Legacy arranged the emergency transport.Tom & Nancy O'Sullivan drove up from Bemidji to get Phoenix and bring him back to meet Kristin Tanchin who drove all the way up from the Twin Cities to Bemidji and back again to deliver Phoenix to ACT V.

Dr. Vicki Schulz of ACT V and her team came in that Saturday to the vet clinic to meet Phoenix and provide immediate care and pain relief. Marilou Chanrasmi of Leech Lake Legacy came to ACT V on Saturday, too, to take photos and then has provided daycare for Phoenix in her home this week.

Thanks to those who alerted the media to this story and shared it on social media. The life lesson here is that there is evil in this world, but there is also good. When the good people work together, evil must hide from that light.

  1. Thank you to all involved in helping little Phoenix. He is looking so much better. He has been given a 2nd chance at a good life so whoever gets to adopt him will have a very special little guy. His eyes tell it all. Thank you all for helping him.
