January Clinic

The winter neuter-only clinic held January 9th and 10th was a big success this year. A team including Dr. Vicki of ACT V and Mike and Lauren Dosal, 3rd year vet students and faithful volunteers of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue for many years, came and did a clinic for the reservation once again.

Also helping with the clinic were Wallace, Vivian, and Amanda proving clinic support. Nancy and Tom O’Sullivan transported a load of food and supplies and helped with surrendered animal setups. Paul and Phyllis delivered food and shelter supplies to the Ponemah area.

The first day the team was at the RLRR shelter providing vaccinations and treatment for the shelter animals. They also helped with the evening chores and unloaded a large cache of food and supplies sent up in a rental cargo van. A special thank you to Dee Dee and Amy for collecting and loading the supplies.

The second day the team went to the Redby warehouse and provided the service to the community animals. Food was provided for over 100 animals and sheltering for another 7 including dog houses and straw.

A total of 57 animals were served with vaccinations and wellness examinations as well as emergency treatment for several injured animals. A total of 16 animals were neutered. A number of surrenders included a litter of 4 puppies, a dog Brutus with a broken leg,  2 cats, and 2 larger puppies Isaiah and Isabelle. All were able to get transferred to other rescues.

Finally, on Sunday, January 11th, 31 animals from Red Lake and another 10 animals from Roseau were loaded and transported to their various rescues in the Minneapolis area including AHS, Pet Haven, All Dog Rescue, ACT V, and Feline Rescue. It was a great feeling to have the animals removed from the cold outdoors into warm indoor environments with hope for adoption and a forever home.

Thank you all who made this a great success and all the people in the background who provide for these vital programs for the animals in the northern region in the cold winter. We made lots of animals and community people very happy.
