Kindest Cut Visits Red Lake for October Clinic

JENNY FITZER
Red Lake had their first visit with Kindest Cut under the direction of Dr. Meghann Kruck on October 21-23, 2013. The three day clinic was coordinated by Jenny Fitzer and staffed mostly by the Leech Lake Legacy volunteer team. We also had some local volunteers who were very helpful.
The clinic was a great success with the neuter and spay of 94 animals and other services provided to 166 animals by two volunteer vets, Dr. Pierce and Dr.Barbara Ahrend.
We had a great number of surrendered cats and dogs. Jenny was able to place 27 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to AHS, MUSHR, Second Hand Hounds, RAGOM, A Rotta Love, and Carver Scott. Other surrenders filled up Red Lake Rosie’s kennels and cathouse. We were thankful to find rescues to take so many as we would not have had space at the shelter to absorb them all. We also noted many animals that were in various stages of malnutrition.
A special thank you to Jodi Ehlenz, Linda Ratay and friends for providing the great food to keep volunteers, vets, and vet techs well nourished. Other volunteers included Heidi Hunstad, Jean Rice, Heather Worm, Jayson,  Julie Cross and her mom. A special thanks to the people who worked hard to clean up the warehouse before the clinic including Heather, Jayson, Carolyn, Nancy O, Nancy Blanck, Terri Stately and her daughter. A special thank you to Dennis Saliny who came to the shelter and spent 3 days after the clinic helping get all the surrendered animals settled.
HEATHER AND JAYSON
This was the final clinic of the 2013 season and we are thankful that with the help of MN Snap and Kindest Cut we were able to keep working on curbing overpopulation of companion animals at Red Lake.
