Scout finds home & family

SMILING SCOUT & ALLENIn July of 2010, two very hungry juvenile dogs, Scout and Cee Cee (littermates) were brought to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. As time went on it was clear that Cee Cee was a very tame and friendly girl who soon was spayed and off to All Dog Rescue.

CEE CEE, SCOUT'S SISTERScout, however, after he was fattened up and neutered, decided he no longer wanted to be in a kennel or on a leash and became one of the RLRR pack. For one year, he was a free-spirit at the shelter. He was a beautiful dog that soon became alpha male as Grandpa shepherd slowly got more and more disabled. He always respected Grandpa, however, and would bow to him.

Many volunteers were very fond of Scout and his beauty and spirit.

SCOUT ON ARRIVAL AT RLRROne day Shelly visited the shelter looking for a dog in July, 2011. She lived with her husband Allen on a farm and had horses and really wanted a dog. She looked at all the dogs and she said, "I like that one" pointing at Scout. I said, "Good luck on catching Scout. He is really elusive and does not want to be confined or controlled in any way." I tried to discourage her, but Shelly had her mind set on Scout and spent considerable time trying to get him to come to her with treats and sweet talk.

She left disappointed, but continued to call about Scout. I offered that I would do my best to catch and crate Scout for her and if I could not I would enlist the help of Dr. Shannon at the vet to help me with a catch pole.

Well, thanks to Jodi who was visiting, Scout was tricked that day and we managed to get him leashed and into a crate, and Shelly was so happy. He was delivered to her and I was hoping all would work out for Shelly and her family and Scout. Shelly planned on working with him.

SCOUT'S FARMToday, Lauren and I visited the farm and there was Scout, transformed into a tame dog. Allen told us "Scout is a good dog". It was such a great day to see how well he was doing, and encouragement not to give up on the feral dogs, as they are all "good dogs". They just need the right people to connect with.

SCOUT'S FARMScout sleeps with his best friend the cat. He enjoys the family and the horses at the farm.

SCOUT & LAURENThank you to everyone who helped rescue and get Scout to the home he was destined to have. Although Scout recognized us and entertained us for a while, when we left, he turned and left walking with Allen.

SCOUT & KARENHe was home indeed!

Sincerely, Karen

  1. So very happy for Scout! He was
quite the greeter at RLRR and we
always looked for him. Sounds like he has found his forever
    family.
