MN SNAP (Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program) is scheduled to do three spay/neuter clinics with Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in 2011. Check out the amazing art inspired by MN SNAP in this video (some pups from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue were helpers) and learn more about MN SNAP below.
Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program's Mission:
It is our mission to end the suffering and death of homeless animals due to pet overpopulation by providing high-quality, affordable, and accessible spay and neuter services to Minnesota shelters, rescue organizations, and the companion animals of the low-income community.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MNSNAP)?
Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program's fully equipped veterinary clinic on wheels delivers low-cost, high-quality spay and neuter surgeries for animals belonging to shelters, rescues and low-income pet owners in Minnesota. We reach pets in neighborhoods where cost, transportation, or the absence of veterinary services is an obstacle to obtaining animal health care and spay/neuter services.
MNSNAP was created by a licensed veterinarian and a group of animal advocates with a goal of reducing the death and suffering of homeless animals all across Minnesota. There are other spay/neuter programs in Minnesota that are designed to help animal shelters and rescue organizations have their dogs and cats altered before adoption; however, until MNSNAP, there hasn’t been any program for income-restricted Minnesotans to have affordable spay/neuter services come to them.
Our mobile surgical unit travels to a pre-scheduled destination for the day. Our staff admits each animal, collects fees, and performs pre-operative physical exams. During the day, all the patients will be cared for by MNSNAP’s highly-qualified, licensed veterinarian and her team of experienced and caring veterinary technicians; patients will be anesthetized and surgically sterilized using the most current anesthesia medications, equipment and surgical techniques. All animals are discharged to their owners/caretakers or back to their rescues or shelters the same day.

Why Spay or Neuter?
Sterilized pets tend to live longer, healthier lives!
Pets are less likely to stray after being fixed.
Sterilization increases your pet's loyalty.
Sterilization decreases the risk of dog bites.
Fixed pets have fewer bad behavioral problems.
Sterilization saves on vet bills.
Spay surgery eliminates messy and annoying heat cycles.
Spay/neuter reduces the number of pets killed in shelters.
Breeding dogs and cats costs more than surgery to have your pet fixed.
Spay/neuter reduces your pet's risk for some cancers and infections.
Spay/neuter greatly reduces urine spraying and marking in cats.
Sterilization is safer than pregnancy and giving birth to puppies or kittens.
Spay/neuter reduces the overpopulation of unwanted and homeless animals.

Your Gifts Keep on Giving A Few of the Pets Spayed or Neutered by MNSNAP
MNSNAP is a registered MN 501(c)3 non-profit charity. We rely entirely upon donations to provided our services. The more donations we receive, the more animals we can save. Please make a donation today.
Your gifts not only enable MNSNAP to fulfill its mission; you are also easing the burdens of animal rescues and shelters in Minnesota. Immediately, they will be able to save more animals because they will incur less expenses for spay and neuter services. Over time, as the overpopulation problem decreases, rescues and shelters will have less animals that they will be unable to save. Shelters will no longer have to turn animals away or euthanize them merely because they are already full.
Want to get involved? There are many ways you can help our furry friends in Minnesota.
