Lucy Zeebe: Poster child for rescue

Lucy came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in the dark days of mid-December 2009 with her two tiny pups. She was starved and Karen described her as "one of the most abused animals we have seen." Please read the previous post about her to fully appreciate what a happy ending this is.

LUCY BEFORELUCY AFTERLucy and her pups went to foster care with Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue (where she was known at Zeebe) and now all have found homes.

Lucy Z can't stop smiling ear-to-ear and you can see the blur of her white whip tail wagging, too, in some of the photos. I hope this story brightens your day as much as it did mine.

UPDATE FROM MN PITBULL RESCUE:
I have attached some pictures of Zeebe and her pups, Waahbe (now Ivy) and Neebe. All have been adopted!

Zeebe went to a home with a women and her roommate who also has a male mix dog. Zeebe LOVES going to the local dog park and has completed her obedience class at The K9 Coach. She did have to have surgery a few weeks ago to have a lump removed from her foot. That is healing well but its hard to keep her off of it. She is just a ball of energy and likes to be on the go! I am so glad Zeebe has come into our rescue, she has quite the following and everyone loves her!!

WAAHBE & WRIGLEYWaahbe, who is now Ivy, lives with her mom, dad, and her four-legged brother, Wrigley. They reside in Duluth and are very active with the dogs including camping, hiking, and rescue events! They have also fostered numerous dogs for us and Ivy is a great role model for all the foster dogs. Ivy has also completed her obedience class.

MISTY AND FRIENDSYou may remember Misty from RLRR who came in a few months ago; she is currently being fostered there. =) Misty is all the way on the left and Ivy is in the third one in from the left.

NEEBENeebe lives with her mom and dad. She doesn't have any siblings but has a lot of friends. Neebe has completed her obedience class at Doge Spot and also goes to daycare there from time to time.

NEEBE ENJOYS CANOE RIDES AS LONG AS SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO PADDLENeebe is busy girl and likes to go to the cabin. Neebe's family is in the process of starting to foster so hopefully she will have a foster brother soon!

  1. What a cutie! I love the tail blur - it looks like mist back there. :) I'm sure I've said this before - my dad used to say, "Dumb animals ...." He meant that they don't know anything. Even as a 8yo kid I suspected this was untrue; now I'm sure of it. They know when their life isn't going too well, and then they know when their life is GREAT! Hence, doggie smiles! They know happiness, they show happiness. This is Karen's mission - to put a smile on every pet's face. So glad things are really looking up for Lucy Zeebe. Thx for the update! ^_^

  2. What beautiful happy, healthy, LUCKY dogs, finally getting the love they deserve and giving it right back! After a hard day of work, these pictures really did make my day. The smiles of these pitties go straight to my heart--thanks to all who've had roles in their lot-in-life transformations.

  3. I wish the abusers could see what cherished pets these dogs and cats are.

  4. We also need to give Polly and Dan the credit for going and picking up Lucy Zeebe and her puppies that day and flagging down the rescue van so she could board.

Had Polly and Dan not took the initiative- they would never have been rescued-You are awesome guys!!
    Sincerely, Karen

  5. NOTE FROM KAREN:
BTW- I did not know if you knew the meaning of the names of the pitbulls that you recently got updates on:

    ZeeBe means "river"
    Neebe means "water"
    Not sure about Wahbee

    These are the Ojibwe translations.

    Peace- Karen

  6. Polly is awesome! She'll spend a 20 below zero day in winter driving around to all the dumpgrounds and going out to people's homes, looking for animals that have been abandoned. She doesn't quit. Great lady! ^_^
