Spice Girl Bella

A very happy ending for a special needs dog from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue!

UPDATE ON SPICE GIRL FROM HER PET HAVEN ADOPTERS:
Spice Girl's name has been officially changed to Bella! She is the epitome of her name, Beautiful. She is such a gentle and affectionate dog, seemingly content to just be loved. Her needs are so simple. She has met grandmas, neighbors, friends, and other four legged friends and has charmed them all!

As time passes, Bella is becoming more outgoing and fun-loving. She enjoys our resident golden retriever, and he has figured out she is here to stay. The first week we monitored her physical activity as to not over-tax her remaining back leg, but now she has figured out how much romping around in the back yard she can do. Recently, she put the Boxer in her to the test and pinned Charlie, our golden. It is odd that he seems to know to play gentle. Don't worry, Ann S. we won't over do it, but I think she is being the healthy puppy she has never had the opportunity to be. Ann G., You did an excellent job of nursing her back to health, and now we get to see the healthy, youthful Bella!

As far as Bella's hearing loss, it really helps having a hearing dog to guide her and keep her up to date on the goings on around the house, although come to think of it, she is never far away from us! Our vet thinks the hearing loss is due to hair growing on the vibrating part of her inner ear. Apparently it is genetic and not uncommon. Bella is able to hear very loud or high pitched noises. I am teaching her a few signs, and she is catching on fast as she is quite smart! We plan on doing obedience school in the Fall.
