Special transport for starving dogs at Erskine, MN

On June 29, 2009, 29 very malnourished hunting dogs and pups were seized in Erskine, Minnesota, from a breeder. The animals were taken in at Pennington County Humane Society in Thief River Falls, MN, where they will remain for 10 days until a court decision is made as to whether or not they will be returned to the breeder. Dawn Williamson, the director of the shelter, stated that they had little money and resources to rely on in order to nurse the animals back to health.

Well.....I really don't need to explain what a wonderful group of volunteers RLRR has, but once again they came through like a whirl-wind with donations of dog and puppy chow and financial donations. Kristin Ripley, Barb Olson, and others gathered up chow during the course of 4 days.

TRANSPORT GANGArrangements unfolded with Kristin, her husband Mike, Kristin's parents, and Barb Olson making the drive in 3 vehicles to Motley, Minnesota, meeting Tom and Nancy O'Sullivan (from Bemidji). The O'Sullivans then relayed the chow (about 1200-1500 lbs for Pennington and another 1200-1500 for RLRR) first to Thief River Falls and then to Red Lake Rosie's. Talk about good ol' team work. The entire 'operation' went smoothly and we are grateful. Thank you!

Two photos are attached. One photo shows Barb, Tom, Kristin and husband Mike, and Kristin's parents. I just had to include a second photo of 'our' Mike who helps Karen at Rosie's each and everyday. He is priceless. When it is time to unload a trailer of chow or help rescue an animal, he is always right there, ready and willing to pitch in. Thank you, Mike!

RLRR MIKE
A big thank you to all who helped obtain the animal chow, transporting it to where it needed to go. Thank you all for the financial help. Thank you to Dawn Williamson at Pennington County Humane Society for caring for these wonderful dogs and pups, and to Karen for overseeing this project.
